Bernie Searle covered herself in spices.
Nayland Blake used frosting.
Bruce Nauman used paint
These are artists Ive researched in the past and its important to know what others have done and why. Searle's was most relevant to her own culture, referring to the spice trade as a south african. I am not sure if I really relate to any one material.

What other materials would be interesting? What about the background/setting?
I kind of like the cotton idea. You don't necessarily have to cover yourself in a raw material either. Ex: Instead of covering yourself in cotton, what if you continued putting on white cotton shirts until you couldn't move anymore because you are wearing so many. You could even go as far as starting with med size shirts then gradually shifting to large, XL, and XXL as needed. You might need someone to dress you even- once you cannot put them on yourself.
